Barry, Jo, Georgia & Ella (12&9yrs) 4 months 08/09 Balmy September: Bask by the pool - frogs croaking. Views of Todi - golden sunset mirror-ball. Al fresco meals under the verandah. Gaze at starry skies. Crisp October: Clubs for everyone on the 3-hole golf course. Pizza-twirling in the cantina - home-grown olive oil and salty rosemary topping. Cool November: Bell-towers piercing Tiber mists. Warm nooks for coffee. Sit in quiet sunbeams - a book in one hand, home-grown wine in the other, bruschetta toasting on the fire. White Christmas: Snowcapped mountain backdrop - local nativity scenes and gift fairs. Warmed herbal wine and carols by the fireside. New Year: fireworks and champagne toasts in the Piazza del Popolo. Thanks to David & Jenny, our warm and generous hosts; Danillo & Helena, our friendly caretakers; and Ah Choi, best friend to man, woman and child – who made our time at Le Favette so very wonderful. We recently returned for our fourth time to David and Jenny's beautiful haven in Umbria. On two occasions we also brought our parents, both 85 years old and they loved it. There is lots of scope for pottering for all age groups.Dad is a keen golfer and enjoyed the 3 hole course .I am a keen swimmer and was in the pool daily despite the early May visit. It was lovely once the usual shock of getting wet passed .The pond frogs,dragon flies,swallows,tadpoles, beautiful irises and water lilies kept us mesmerised for hours. Hospitality first class. Danillo and Helena were lovely and grew all sorts of delights in the vegetable patch as well as sorting all the domestic jobs in the villa.The Andersons dog " Ah Choi "is one of the lovliest dogs I have ever met and her new puppy friend "Egor" is a real sweetie too[I am a Vet!]. Our family had the most wonderful, relaxing holiday at Le Favette. The villa is spotlessly clean and contains everything you could want. The location is stunning and although we ventured out a few times, we loved just lounging around the pool soaking up the sun and enjoying the magnificent views which could not be bettered. David and Jenny are great hosts, always there when you need them, but very discreet. Helena and Danilo provide very tasty vegetables from the garden and are very friendly, although our lack of Italian often made conversing difficult....and the dogs....my 9 year old has not stopped talking about them. Nicer, friendlier dogs you could not find! We hope to revisit within the next couple of years! Becky Herbert, Bristol, England |
