Well worth visiting are the famous town of Ronda, the Alhambra palace in Granada,the designer upmarket Puerto Banus, the white village of Mijas (amongst others) and the many golf clubs nearby. Also very accessible is Gibraltar (famous for its rock and native apes) and even Tangiers in Morocco.
The Sierra Nevada national park mountains, just outside Granada offer superb hiking in the summer and skiing throughout the winter and spring.
