Further details
There are lots of things to do and places to visit and a week can easily rush by doing the tourist thing. The bike riding and walking can be spectacular and many visitors have suggested the best areas for this, but realistically the whole surroundings are worth a tour. The river Sava, which runs into Ljubljana, is just 200 yards from the apartment and fishing licenses can be bought from the Bled Tourist Information Centre, which is beneath the Park Hotel opposite the Lake. The river can also be accessed for canoeing. Radovljica with its medieval town offers a wider range of bars, restaurants and shops including several supermarkets, swimming pool, sports centre, banks, medical centre and a Post Office. Bled town, lake and castle are 5 mins away where you can find a ski centre, luge track (for warmer months), skating rink, and 27-hole golf course. Also a range of bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, banks and Post Office. Here you can hire Canoes, plus Whitewater rafting, Canyoning and Quad bike trips.
In the summer the mountain lakes provide wonderful swimming. Lake Bohinj and Bohijnska Bistrica (town) are 25 minutes for some stunning views and a glass finish lake where you can enjoy a breathtaking boat trip. Kranska Gora ski centre 25 mins. Ljubljana town centre is again a 30 min drive directly into the centre. Soca Valley - Trenta, Kobarid, Tolmin for canyoning, kayaking and white water rafting. Coast – Koper, Piran and Portoroz 1 3/4hour. Generally, there a several restaurants / bars either walk-able or drivable from 1 min, catering for all appetites and preferences from traditional Slovene fare through to Chinese and the prices are also very good and the people are very friendly. We’d recommend a Krème Snita should be had at the Hotel Toplice Panorama Restaurant overlooking the lake in Bled. It’s the best location in Bled and if had with a coffee is a very relaxing interlude. If in Ljubljana, the same should be had at the Slon Bar (Elephant Bar) on the ground floor.
