Mediterranean cottage near the sea
A mediterranean cottage in private land, a few minutes from the sea. Known for its quiet coves, good tavernas and relaxed atmosphere, this area still offers a pristine summer experience whilst avoiding the tourist crowds.
The property is private, semi-rural yet well-connected to major road networks for quick travel to nearby sights, towns, and more beaches.
If you prefer to stay at home, there is space & privacy for sunbathing or other activities and you can walk to the local beach 3 minutes away.
Indoors, the house is fresh, with beautifully worked old doors and ironwork. Paving surrounds the whole building and there is a large front patio/veranda for family meals and relaxation.
Besides swimming and relaxing, the nearby town of Kato Achaia offers a charming and authentic experience of greek life. You can wander through undisturbed, pick up your daily provisions, excellent quality ingredients, visit the saturday market, sample the souvlaki takeaways, or sit and drink a coffee on the main square.
There are many coastal tavernas in the area - a couple at walking distance and many more a short drive away, offering wonderful food for the local population, as well as welcoming visitors with their traditional greek delicacies and hospitality.
The coastline in this region is studded with a variety of beaches and coves for swimming. For a unique swimming experience you can drive to the Kalogria area 20 minutes away - a wooded stretch of pine trees opens out onto miles of sand and velvety water. This beach area is totally unspoilt and natural, with no building developments and always enough space to enjoy your experience undisturbed.
You can take a day-trip to the Voraikos gorge to see spectacular views of the gorge and mountain, as well as beautiful hiking - best done in spring or early autumn.
The same trip can be combined with a visit to the medieval Mega Spileo Monastery, built into the mountain rock, and still used by Greek Orthodox monks.
A popular train runs up through the gorge and provides the best views of the gorge
