Costa Calida is an unspoilt part of Spain steeped in history and begging to be explored. The Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans have all left their mark, but the most prominent influence came from the Moors who left behind a legacy of palaces, convents and churches, the best examples being found in Murcia the regions capital. The cathedral in Murcia is probably the finest example of baroque architecture on the east coast. The old town of Cartagena has many interesting places to explore, and includes the world’s first submarine. Both Murcia and Cartagena have an excellent range of shops, hypermarkets, restaurants, pavement cafes and tapas bars where you can sample a mouth watering selection of local dishes, all offering excellent value for money. The colourful fishing village of Cabo De Palos with its harbour lined with restaurants all serving the ‘catch of the day’ and Sunday market with stalls full of Spanish wares is great for those holiday souvenirs and only a 10 minute drive away. Alternatively the Murcian hills are dotted with typically quaint Spanish villages with an abundance of tapas bars and friendly locals waiting to greet you.
La Manga resort offers a choice of accommodation set amongst breathtaking scenery.
