Molino Cañamaque
This exceptional property is a fine example of a successful conversion from a working mill to a stunning home, offering ample space for living, relaxing, playing, dining, swimming and working, if needed. The views are far reaching from the terrace, the intimate spaces, either in full sun or dappled shade invite to relax. A great place for a family with children or a couple (s) luxuriating in this authentic building full of character, original features and great design.
This historic mill is arranged around a central, open courtyard.
The press in the back room was for pressing grapes to make “mosto”, a rough wine, for the local monastery who owed the building at one time. The front rooms were a shop for “aguardiente” a local spirit . The Molino was then owned by the “Contessa”, as she was known locally, later by a Cuban exile before the current owners bought the building 12 years ago.
The entrance hall leads to your right into a spacious dining room, large enough to seat 10, with an eclectic library to suit all tastes. The kitchen is well equipped, with all a keen cook may want.
The master bedroom is spacious with an open pitched ceiling and en-suite bathroom. A large dressing room facing the terrace, is alongside this bedroom, with a bed for under 5's and plenty of space for a cot too.
2 further bedrooms, one with a double bed (150x190), the other with two singles beds, share a full bathroom. This "other wing" can also be used as a double bedroom with en-suite, using the 3rd. bedroom as a dressing room, thus offering accommodation for two couples with plenty of privacy for each.
The central courtyard reminds one of the Ryhads in Morocco, a very private, open-air space with a large dining table and flowering shrubs. The reception is alongside the dining room, facing the open courtyard. Down and along another corridor is a further toilet and beyond the spacious living room, cool in summer and full of history with beautiful beams, and an amazing large open fireplace.
As the property is built around a central courtyard, and set on several different levels, most new visitors comment that it is "much larger than the photos show!" Children love being here, this ancient mill is a great place to play hide and seek, with all its different rooms, corridors, garden and patios.
The garden-patio is cobbled and private, with a lovely tree for shade. The swimming pool is partly walled in, ample for a swim with a good depth.
The garage is across the road, please ask for details.
The building is situated in the residential part of town, very central all the same.
