Restored Reriod House in a Designated Conservation Area
Casa Juana is a charming old Portuguese house, situated in the beautiful ancient town of Tavira on the Eastern Algarve. It has been restored sympathetically and retains its original character while providing comfortable and spacious accomodation. The apartment below, which is totally seperate, is occupied by an elderly Portuguese gentleman.
It provides accommodation for 4 people and comprises of one bedroom with ensuite bathroom and double bed, one master bedroom with twin beds, a main bathroom with a washing machine, a spacious sitting room and a large well equipped kitchen/diner leading out to a small patio with table & chairs, jasmine & bougainvillea.
The house is a 10 minute walk from the town centre where fine restaurants can be found either side of the River Gilao. A Roman bridge spans the river which flows through the centre of the town past palm-shaded waterfront gardens. The old market building, now an exhibition centre with cafes and shops is situated here also. The railway station another 10 minutes walk from the house, will enable you to travel the length of the Algarve and north to Lisbon.
The town is separated from the sea by the island of Tavira. 11 kilometres of white sand beaches reached by a ferry from the quay, near the fine old market building in the centre of the town., during the summer. The island has several bars & restaurants for your refreshment.
Tavira is one of the oldest towns on the Algarve with its narrow cobbled streets, a hilltop castle and 25 churches. The whole of the coast in this area is part of the Reserva Natural da Ria Formosa, a haven for marsh & sea birds, including flamingos.
Tavira is about 30 minutes drive from Faro airport. Spain is only a half hours drive to the east and Seville can be reached in about 2 hours. This is the real Portugal, the people are warm & friendly and very honest. We are sure you will enjoy your holiday at Casa Juana.
