Holiday House in San Juan de la Rambla, Tenerife
Stay in a writer's hideaway house and explore an unspoilt old village, San Juan de la Rambla in Tenerife (the Canary islands), off the coast of Africa. No tourists or traffic to speak of, and only 15 minutes drive or bus ride to the nearest big town Puerto de la Cruz.
In this paradise, where it only rains for a week or two every year (usually in the winter, but it's difficult to predict exactly when), where it's never cold in winter and never too hot in summer- the daytime temperature almost never dips under 18C in winter or rises above 26C in summer, in the midst of banana and orange groves, we have an unpretentiously furnished, 200 year-old, house right on the Atlantic ocean, where the large sun-terrace and the sitting room overlook an unimpeded view.
The house has one main bedroom with a double bed, a child's bedroom with a double bed and a third bedroom with a double bed. There is also a settee that folds down into a double bed in the sitting room.
The house, although fairly basic, is newly decorated and comfortable. It is equipped with a kitchen with a new cooker, fridge and washing machine. There is a cd and radio player
Wash-lady and extra cleaning (Carmen-Rosa) available by arrangement nearby. But no phone- bring your mobile (the reception is good). There is a Cyber-café in Puerto de la Cruz at Obispo Perez Caceres 22 (opposite the Hotel Orotava Palace and next to the Indian spice shop).
