Venturing outside of Loreto Aprutino, the beach at Monetsilvano is 20 minutes drive away. Pescara airport is only 25 minutes drive from Loreto and in Pescara one can find many shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife.
There are many other hillside towns in the nearby areas including Penne, where a large market is held on Saturdays. The mountains are widely used for skiing and can be reached in a 30 minute drive. Loreto Aprutino is a fantastic location as there is so much within a manageable distance. There's a great deal of historical culture and beautiful scenery, including the national parks.
