The town of Aigues Mortes is just five minutes over the canal bridge from the villa. In this wonderful ancient walled town is a great variety of shops and restaurants. You can walk around the walls and see from there the unique salt flats beyond the town where for hundreds of years the famous "sel de Mer" has been collected. The town is the main centre for the Western Camargue, a unique area of France famous for its wild white horses, flocks of pink flamingoes and herds of black bulls. Add to that the huge open skies, the miles of safe beaches just five kms away, golf courses, vineyards by the acre ("vin du Sable")and of course wonderful sunshine, and you have a recipe for a perfect holiday. (oh and don't forget the walking and cycling as well!)
There are several nearby airports to make travel to the area easy. Montpelier, Nimes, Perpignon, Toulouse, Marseilles, take your pick. The French autoroute system makes journeys by road easy and fast.
