The house stands in its own grounds on the edge of the village of Mohon . The village enjoys a small number of local shops - bakery, mini supermarket, newsagent / tobacconist /café-bar, hairdresser and an electrical store. It is an active community with a magnificent Church. A number of attractive walks can be undertaken in and around the village.
Mohon is easily accessible from coastal ports and sits
right in the heart of the Morbihan countryside in Brittany. It lies on the north– eastern boundary of the forest of Lanouée some eleven kilometres north of the mediaeval town of Josselin. Lying alongside the Nantes– Brest canal, this tourist centre boasts good restaurants, comprehensive supermarkets and a doll museum. Its magnificent chateau is one of the areas architectural treasures and not to be missed.
Nearby Plöermel, once home to the Dukes of Brittany, is the centre of Arthurian legend with the large Lac au Duc and its associated Golf course just 16 kilometres from Mohon. The huge Broceliande forest is associated with many Celtic legends and is well worth exploring.
Coastal resorts to the north and the south lie some 45 minutes drive away. There are good road connections to, for example, Quimper with its gothic cathedral , the unique fortified port of Concarneau and Pont-Aven, the artists’ haven made famous by Gaugin and his followers. The magnificent old town of Vannes, at the top of the Gulf of Morbihan is only three-quarters of an hour away.
