Holiday Cottage in Clun, Shropshire
The Bake House was originally the bakery in Clun, which was still functioning just ten years ago. Having fallen into disuse, it has been carefully converted and renovated into a lovely red-brick and stone cottage. The cottage stands on one of the main walking paths of Shropshire; the Shropshire Way, which leads you past the ancient Clun castle into the Shropshire hills and on to Offa's Dyke path, with wonderful views across the high upland pastures. Clun hasn't changed much since A E Housman penned his description of it as 'the quietest place under the sun'. But if you want a more lively atmosphere in contrast, the bustling towns of Shrewsbury and historic Ludlow are a short drive away.
